Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said that he is not the Congress president anymore and Congress Working Committee (CWC) must meet and decide on the new chief without any further delay.
Rahul said as he had quit from his post, so he is not part of the process of finalising the next president.
“I am nowhere in this process. I have already resigned,” said Rahul Gandhi.
Rahul today posted a letter on his twitter account and said that accountability was critical to the future growth of the party.
“It is an honour for me to serve the Congress Party, whose values and ideals have served as the lifeblood of our beautiful nation. I owe the country and my organisation a debt of tremendous gratitude and love,” said Rahul.
Taking responsibility for the party’s defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul said, “Rebuilding the party requires hard decisions and numerous people will have to be made accountable for the failure of 2019. It would be unjust to hold others accountable but ignore my own responsibility as President of the party.”
Rahul Gandhi resigned as Congress president on May 25. The Congress party could win only 52 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha.
