HC warns centre, Delhi govt on massive crowding in markets

The Delhi High Court warned centre and the state government that violation of Covid protocol in the markets  will only hasten the third Covid wave. As within a week of the unlocking large crowd were seen in the markets, breaking covid protocols.

The high court issued notices to the Centre and the Delhi government asking them to file a status report. It also asked authorities to make strict measures against violators and alert shopkeepers.

Thousands were seen at popular shopping markets in the city, violating Covid protocols such as social distancing and wearing of masks that could lead to a resurgence in COVID-19 infections.

In view of declining COVID-19 numbers in the capital on Monday shops, malls, restaurants were reopened. Weekly markets were also reopened with 50 percent vendors, and one market per day is allowed to function in each municipal zone.
