Hanuman-Themed Performance at BJP Rally Triggers Political Debate

Lucknow: A political controversy has erupted after visuals from BJP National President Nitin Nabin’s roadshow in Lucknow showed a man dressed as Lord Hanuman carrying a BJP flag and participating in the procession. The video has been widely shared on social media, drawing criticism from opposition leaders.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh shared the video on social media platform X and questioned the use of a religious figure during a political event. In his post, he alleged that the BJP was disrespecting religious sentiments and criticised the party over the incident.

Several opposition leaders and social media users have also raised concerns, questioning whether religious symbols and deities should be associated with political campaigns. The video has since gone viral across social media platforms, prompting a wider political debate.

The BJP has not issued a specific response to the viral video. However, during his visit to Lucknow, BJP National President Nitin Nabin defended the party’s stand on matters related to faith and said the BJP would not allow anyone to hurt the sentiments of devotees.

The incident has added to the ongoing political exchanges between the BJP and opposition parties ahead of the upcoming elections, with both sides continuing to trade charges over the use of religious symbolism in public life.
