A special CBI court in Panchkula on Friday convicted Jailed self-styled godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim and three others in a case pertaining to the murder of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati.
The quantum of sentence will be pronounced on January 17.
The 51-year-old Rahim appeared before the court through video conferencing from Rohtak’s jail.
Journalist Chhatrapati was shot in October 2002 after his newspaper ‘Poora Sach’ published an anonymous letter narrating sexual exploitation of women by Gurmeet Ram Rahim at the Dera headquarters in Sirsa. The case was handed over to CBI in 2006.
The CBI Special Court in August 2017 sentenced Ram Rahim to 20-year rigorous imprisonment for raping two of his followers.
His conviction had triggered riots in Panchkula that left over 30 people dead.
