Former Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Minister Sucha Singh Langah, who was facing rape charges, was acquitted in the case by a local court in Punjab’s Gurdaspur town on July 30. The rape case was filed against him by a woman constable of the Punjab Police Vigilance Department in 2017.
Minister Langah was present in the court when the judgment was pronounced.
“What Congress government did was wrong. They made a false case against me to win the elections. The court provided me with justice,” SAD minister Langah said after the acquittal.
Langah was booked in Gurdaspur following a complaint of a woman constable of the Punjab Police.
“The judgment was pronounced by additional court judge Prem Kumar in which he was held guilty, Karan Singh (Langah’s lawyer) said.
The former SAD minister had been escaping custody by remaining underground.
