Indian Army chief General MM Naravane was conferred the honorary rank of General of Nepali Army by President of Nepal Bidhya Devi Bhandari at a ceremony on Thursday.
“General MM Naravane #COAS was conferred the Honorary Rank of General of #NepaliArmy by Rt Hon’ble President of Nepal Smt Bidhya Devi Bhandari. This unique & deep-rooted tradition has no parallel in the world,” Indian Army said in a tweet.
Earlier today, General Naravane laid Wreath at Bir Smarak & received a Guard of Honour at Headquarters of Nepali Army. Naravane also interacted with General Purna Chandra Thapa, Chief of Nepali Army & discussed issues of mutual interest & defence cooperation.
Naravane also presented medical equipment for two field hospitals and additional ventilators to the Nepali Army to assist in its fight against COVID-19.
On November 4, Naravane proceeded on a three-day visit to Nepal. The visit aims to further strengthen strategic and defence cooperation between the two countries.
