New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on a six-day visit to France and Slovakia from June 13 to 18, aimed at strengthening India’s strategic, economic and technological partnerships with Europe. The visit will include high-level meetings with world leaders, participation in the G7 Outreach Summit, and bilateral engagements focused on trade, innovation, defence and emerging technologies.
The first leg of the visit will take PM Modi to France, where he is scheduled to hold talks with French President Emmanuel Macron. The two leaders are expected to review progress in the India-France strategic partnership and discuss cooperation in areas such as defence, clean energy, artificial intelligence, space, innovation and critical technologies. Modi and Macron will also jointly inaugurate the “Bharat Innovates 2026” event in Nice, which aims to deepen collaboration between Indian and French startups, researchers and technology companies.
During his stay in France, the Prime Minister is also expected to participate in the G7 Outreach Summit in Evian. On the sidelines of the summit, he is likely to hold several bilateral meetings with global leaders. Reports indicate that a meeting with US President Donald Trump is expected, with discussions likely to focus on trade, energy cooperation and visa-related issues, including H-1B visas.
In the second leg of the tour, PM Modi will travel to Slovakia, marking one of the highest-level engagements between the two countries in recent years. The visit is expected to focus on expanding cooperation in trade, manufacturing, defence, innovation and people-to-people ties.
The Ministry of External Affairs has described the trip as an important step in strengthening India’s engagement with Europe at a time of rapidly evolving global economic and geopolitical challenges. Officials believe the visit will further reinforce India’s partnerships with key European nations and advance the country’s strategic interests on the global stage.
