Former PM Manmohan Singh files nomination for Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday filed his nomination for Rajya Sabha elections from Jaipur, Rajasthan.

He was accompanied by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot, among others.

The seat got vacant following the death of BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Madan Lal Saini.

The BJP has yet to declare a candidate for the seat. The party has 72 MLAs in the 200-member Rajasthan assembly.

Singh was a member of the Upper House of Parliament from Assam for almost three decades.

Manmohan Singh’s tenure in the Rajya Sabha ended in June this year and he could not be re-nominated as the Congress no longer have strength to send him to the Upper House from Assam.
