Fresh flash floods hit the Thathri area of Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, damaging houses and shops, blocking the National Highway, and disrupting normal life.
Officials said floodwaters entered several parts of Thathri town, causing damage to residential and commercial properties. The exact extent of the damage is still being assessed, but preliminary estimates indicate losses worth several lakh rupees.
The National Highway was also blocked after debris brought by the floods accumulated on the road, disrupting traffic and affecting commuters. Authorities have deployed restoration teams to clear the debris and restore vehicular movement.
Officials said assessment of the damage is underway and efforts are being made to restore connectivity and normalcy at the earliest.
The latest flash floods come just days after heavy rain triggered a flash flood and mudslide at Prem Nagar in Doda district, disrupting road connectivity and underscoring the continuing impact of adverse weather in the region.
No loss of life or injuries had been reported at the time this report was filed.
