First Confirmed case of Coronavirus in India reported from Kerala

India on Thursday reported its first confirmed case of novel coronavirus from Kerala.

“One positive case of Novel Coronavirus patient, of a student studying in Wuhan University, has been reported in Kerala,” the Health Ministry said in a statement.

“The patient has tested positive for Novel Coronavirus and is in isolation in the hospital,” the statement said.

“The patient is stable and is being closely monitored,” it added.

The nationwide death toll from China’s viral epidemic has soared to 170.

The coronavirus outbreak started in Wuhan, capital of China’s Hubei province, in December and has now spread across the globe.
