Former MLA, Satwinder Rana has been declared a proclaimed offender for not appearing before the court in a case of cheque bounce. Orders to declare him a PO were issued by Judicial Magistrate, 1stclass Panchkula on October 30 in a Complaint filed under Section 138 read with Section 142 of Negotiable Instruments Act.
In his complaint Sandeep Sethi, a resident of Chandigarh had alleged that Rana issued him four cheques totaling an amount of Rs 40 lakhs, which bounced when presented in the bank for payment. He tried in vain to request Rana to make the payment, but he started evading him.
Finally, he filed complaint against him on September 12, 2017 and the Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Panchkula Kanwal Kumar passed an order observing that accused had failed to appear and as such he is declared proclaimed person and SHO ordered to take further necessary action in the matter.
