An encounter broke out on Sunday between terrorists and the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet said, “#Encounter has started at #Sighanpor area of #Kulgam. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.”
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Sighanpora area following inputs about the presence of terrorists there.
The search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists fired upon security forces, who retaliated, triggering an encounter.
The exchange of fire is currently going on.
Chinar Corps-Indian Army tweeted, “Op Shiganpur, #Kulgam. Joint Operation was launched in the wee hours of the morning today on @JmuKmrPolice inputs. Cordon was laid & contact established. Firefight ensued. Joint Operation in progress.”
