An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in Srinagar’s Nawakadal area in the intervening night of May 18-19.
A joint operation by the JKP and CRPF was launched following a credible input of presence of terrorists at Kanemazar in Nawakadal area of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir Police said.
A policeman has also been injured in the ongoing operation.
Jammu and Kashmir police in a tweet said, “The operation was launched on credible police input last night in #Kanemazar #Nawakadal #Srinagar. Some exchange of Fire took place during night. One Police SOG personnel injured. Firing resumed during search in the morning and the operation continues.”
Mobile internet services have been snapped in Srinagar.
Earlier, Kashmir Zone Police, in a tweet said, “#Encounter has started at #Kanemazar #Nawakadal area of #Srinagar. JKP and CRPF are on the job. Further details shall follow.”
