New Delhi: Elon Musk has become the world’s first trillionaire following the historic public debut of SpaceX, marking a milestone never before achieved by an individual. The company’s blockbuster initial public offering (IPO) on June 12 pushed Musk’s net worth beyond the $1 trillion mark, cementing his position as the richest person in modern history.
SpaceX made one of the largest stock market debuts ever, with shares beginning trading at $150 and surging during their first day on the Nasdaq. The rally lifted the company’s valuation above $2 trillion, placing it among the most valuable companies in the world. By the end of trading, SpaceX shares had risen nearly 19%, further boosting Musk’s fortune.
According to estimates from multiple financial publications, Musk’s net worth now stands at approximately $1.1 trillion. Much of this wealth comes from his ownership stake in SpaceX, which is valued at hundreds of billions of dollars, along with his holdings in Tesla and other ventures including Neuralink, xAI and The Boring Company.
The IPO has also created thousands of new millionaires among current and former SpaceX employees and delivered significant gains to early investors. Demand for shares was exceptionally strong, with reports indicating that the offering was oversubscribed several times before trading began.
Speaking after the listing, Musk reiterated SpaceX’s long-term vision of making humanity a multi-planetary species. He said the company’s mission extends beyond commercial success and remains focused on enabling future travel to the Moon, Mars and beyond.
The achievement represents another landmark in Musk’s extraordinary rise from entrepreneur to technology billionaire. Having already transformed industries ranging from electric vehicles and online payments to space exploration and artificial intelligence, Musk has now added another record to his name by becoming the first person in history to accumulate a trillion-dollar fortune.
