11th batch of 4956 pilgrims on Wednesday left the Jammu base camp to continue their Amarnath Yatra for the Holy cave shrine under tight security.
The 11th batch of pilgrims, including 1,454 women and 97 ‘sadhus’ (seers), left in the groups of 161 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar here for the twin base camps of Pahalgam in Anantnag and Baltal in Ganderbal district, officials said.
While 2677 pilgrims have opted for the traditional 36-km Pahalgam track includes (632 women and 97 sadhus) and the remaining 2279 pilgrims which includes 822 women are taking the shorter 12-km Baltal route for yatra.
The Amarnath Yatra had started from the twin routes on 28 June and will complete on 26 August on Shraavan Purnima.
According to The meteorological department, the pilgrims probably can get affected by the freezing weather in the next four days in Jammu and Kashmir.
