The Election Commission on Friday announced the schedule of 2021 Assembly elections in four states including -West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and the Union Territory of Puducherry.
The voting for five assembly elections will start on March 27 and Results will be declared on May 2.
Voting in West Bengal will be made-up of 8 phases starting March 27.
The terms of the legislative assemblies of these states are coming to the final stages in May and June. The Model Code of Conduct has come into direct effect with the declaration of polls in these states.
According to Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora – “All poll officials will be vaccinated against COVID-19 before elections for five assemblies
The West Bengal assembly has 294 seats, Tamil Nadu has 234 seats, in Kerala there are 140 seats and Assam 126 seats. Whereas, Pondicherry has 33 (3 nominated) seats in the assembly.
