Eight MPs suspended from Rajya Sabha for a week over chaos on farm bills

Eight opposition members have been suspended from the Rajya Sabha for one week over the ruckus and chaos in the house during the discussion on farm bills.

Trinamool Congress’ Derek O’Brien, TMC’s Dola Sen, Sanjay Singh of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Congress leaders Rajeev Satav, Ripun Bora and Syed Nasir Hussain and KK Ragesh and Elamaram Kareem of the CPI(M) were among those who were suspended from the house.

Rajya Sabha on Sunday passed the Farmers’ and Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 and Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020, amid protest and chaos by Opposition MPs.

The bill was passed with a Voice vote in Rajya Sabha.
