Tremors were felt in northeastern parts of India at around 10:00 am on Wednesday after an earthquake measuring 5.6 magnitude on Richter scale struck Assam’s Kokrajhar area.
The earthquake was felt in West Bengal, including Kolkata as well as Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Cooch Behar, Malda and Mushidabad.
In Bihar, tremors were felt in Patna, Purnea, Kishanganj and Katihar.
Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur also felt the intensity of the quake.
No loss of life or damage to property has been reported so far.
Earlier in the day at around 5:15 am, light tremors were felt in Jammu and Kashmir after an earthquake measuring 4.6 magnitude on Richter scale hit the state. Meanwhile, an earthquake of magnitude 3.1 hit the Jhajjar area in Haryana at 5:45 am on Wednesday.
