External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Friday called on visiting Prime Minister of Bhutan Lotay Tshering during the course of which important aspects of the India-Bhutan relationship came up for discussion.
“EAM @SushmaSwaraj called on @PMBhutan Dr Lotay Tshering. Congratulated him on assumption of high office of PM of Bhutan. Warm exchange of views on important aspects of our bilateral relationship,” EAM spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted.
Dr Lotay Tshering earlier in the day received a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
“Exceptional and cherished ties. @PMBhutan Dr Lotay Tshering receives ceremonial welcome @rashtrapatibhvn in the presence of PM @narendramodi on his first overseas visit after assuming office of the Prime Minister of #Bhutan last month,” Kumar said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, later in a day held talks with Tshering on a host of key issues to strengthen bilateral ties between the two neighbouring countries.
Kumar said, “PM @narendramodi welcomes @PMBhutan Dr Lotay Tshering ahead of the delegation level talks to discuss the entire spectrum of bilateral relations & explore new opportunities to further strengthen them.”
“PM @narendramodi & @PMBhutan took stock of the bilateral relationship at the delegation level talks. Both sides renewed commitment to further deepen our partnership,” EAM said.
