The Delhi government and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) have agreed to authorize the Metro smart card as common mobility card for commuting in public transport and made it a valid mode of payment for travel in Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and Cluster buses.
According to government officials, the scheme will cover all public transport buses; all DTC and cluster buses will have the facility to accept the Delhi Metro smart card as a mode of payment for purchasing tickets.
3965 DTC buses and 1650 cluster buses have been equipped with electronic ticketing devices with secured access module chips to swipe smart cards of passengers, the official said.
Training has been provided to bus conductors to issue tickets to passengers using smart cards.
