Dalit scholar Anand Teltumbde an accused in Koregaon Bhima case was arrested by the Pune police in the early hours of Saturday.
Teltumbde, a professor at Goa Institute of Management, was arrested from Mumbai Airport around 3.30 a.m. a day after Pune court rejected his anticipatory bail application.
He was interrogated and later arrested, police said. He would be produced before court in Pune later in the day.
On Friday, Additional Sessions Judge Kishor Vadane observed while pronouncing the judgement that sufficient material was collected by an investigating officer to show the involvement of the present accused in the alleged commission of the offence.
According to police, Maoists had supported the Elgar Parishad conclave that was held on December 31, 2017 in Pune. Several activists made inflammatory speeches at the event, leading to violent clashes at the Koregaon Bhima war memorial the next day.
