COVID surge ‘out of control’ in India

India is witnessing the second wave of coronavirus pandemic and the infected cases soared out of control.’ In the last 24 hours, India has recorded more than 1.26 lakh cases in the last 24 hours.  Whereas, Maharashtra alone reported more than 60 thousand coronavirus cases on Friday.

The central government has warned that the next four weeks are very crucial to control the virus. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with the chief ministers of all states on Thursday, to discuss the current situation of Covid-19 in the country.

The Union Health Ministry said, in the last 24 hours, on Friday India reported 1, 31,968 Covid-19 cases and 780 deaths. In Delhi over the last 10 day’s Covid-19 positives cases surge tremendously high from 2.8% to 8.10% and after November 19 on Thursday Delhi recorded its 7546 new cases of Covid-19.

The Prime Minister urged all states and union territories to strengthen their efforts for the next 2-3 weeks to check the spread of the virus. He also suggested, April 11 to 14 could be observed as a ‘Tika Festival’ for Covid-19 vaccination.

During this period 685 people have died across the country. 322 people in Maharashtra and 62 people in Punjab lost their lives. The recovery rate has come down to 91.67 percent. In view of the worsening situation of Corona, many states have imposed night and full day curfew.
