COVID-19 cases in India rise to 11439, death toll touches 377

The Covid-19 cases in India has risen to 11,439 with 377 deaths, the Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday.

There are 9,756 active cases while 1,305 have been cured/discharged.

Maharashtra has highest COVID-19 cases – 2687, followed by Delhi – 1561, Tamil Nadu – 1204 and Rajasthan – 969.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced the extension of lockdown till May 3. He said the extension was decided keeping in mind suggestions from many states, experts and the people. 

Modi requested people to continue maintaining vigil and to adhere to social distancing during this lockdown.  

PM Modi also put out a seven-point charter for people to follow, which included taking care of the elderly and the poor, social distancing, protecting jobs and to pay utmost respect to nation’s Corona Warriors.
