The judicial custody of former union minister P Chidambaram, who is in prison since September 5 in connection with the INX Media case, was extended till October 17.
Chidambaram on Thursday had moved the Apex Court seeking bail in the case.
The matter was brought before the top court just a few days after the Delhi High Court had dismissed Chidambaram’s bail plea owing to the likelihood of his influencing witnesses.
Chidambaram has been accused for allegedly granting Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) approval to the INX Media group for receiving overseas funds to the tune of over Rs 300 crore in 2007 when he was the finance minister.
