Corruption on peaks in Haryana, crocodiles blessed by bureaucrats & influential leaders: Hooda

Addressing media persons here former Chief Minister and leader of opposition in Vidhan Sabha Bhupinder Singh Hooda accused ruling government in Haryana for increasing cases of corruption in government offices in the state and government failed to control the same attracting headlines in newspapers every day. He said, action is usually taken against small fishes involved in corrupt practices in government offices whereas crocodiles are being sheltered by senior government bureaucrats and political leaders. He said BJP-JJP alliance government in the state have no achievements since after came to power merely functioning like an event management government.

Hooda said, past scenario reveals, earlier per capita income of a person in Haryana state was ranking as No. 1 in the country and presently ruling government in the state have become No. 1 in unemployment, increasing prices and corruption in the country. He said, Haryana state has witnessed several sensational scams in recent past sometime in government departments some of these include registration of properties, corruption by PWD (B&R) in construction of government buildings, preparation of fake passports, recruitments in government jobs, registration of stolen vehicles, illegal mining and many more in which investigation in all cases not reached beyond SIT reports and alleged accused were sheltered by senior bureaucrats as well as heavy weight political party leaders.

Sometime ago, State Vigilance Bureau (SVB) registered criminal cases against 11 government officers and employees in four corruption cases and investigation against two officers allegedly accepting bribe ranging between Rs 1000 to Rs 1.5 lakh in Municipal Corporation, Roadways, Police, Central Cooperative Bank, Haryana staff Selection Commission and Food Supply Departments in the state but failed to take stern action against prime accused except suspending their services for sometime and most of the cases are dumped in files without concrete action.

A recent case attracting headlines in newspapers at present in which District Town Planner at Karnal also handing dual charge of Gurugram was arrested by State Vigilance Bureau (SVB) while accepting Rs 5 lakh bribe for approval of a unauthorized colony. SVB investigation during police remand reveals the arrested accuse have illegal properties of value worth Rs 200 crore by obliging land mafias developed unauthorized colonies. Information also reveals that there are nearly 250 unauthorized colonies in the area developed by land mafias leaving a dark shadow over ruling government in the state claiming themselves a good governess, corruption-free and transparent government.
