Coronavirus death toll jumps past 500 in China

The death toll from a new coronavirus in China has risen to 560 on Thursday.

Many foreigners have been evacuated from Wuhan and placed in quarantine centres around the world.

The deadly virus was first detected in China’s Wuhan in late December and has now spread across the globe.

On Tuesday, Air India announced that it is suspending its Delhi-Hong Kong flight from February 8 after the authorities there reported the death of a patient being treated for the virus.

Cabinet Secretary on Wednesday held a high level meeting to review the actions taken for management of Novel Coronavirus and preparedness of States for the same with Secretaries of Health and Family Welfare, External Affairs, Civil Aviation, Pharma, Dept of Health Research, Member Secretary (NDMA), and other officials from Home Ministry, Commerce, Army and Defence.
