Coronavirus cases in India rise to 9,68,876; Death toll at 24,915

The number of coronavirus cases in India have risen to 9,68,876 as it recorded 32,695 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. A total of 24,915 coronavirus patients have lost their lives, the Union Health Ministry said on Thursday.

There are 3,31,146 active cases while 6,12,814 have been cured/discharged, according to Health Ministry data.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country. The total number of COVID-19 cases has risen to 2,75,640 with 10,928 fatalities.

Tamil Nadu has the second highest COVID-19 cases – 1,51,820 with 2,167 deaths followed by Delhi – 1,16,993 and 3,487 deaths, Karnataka – 47,253 with 928 deaths, Gujarat – 44552 cases and 2,079 fatalities and Uttar Pradesh – 41,383 cases and 1,012 deaths.

A total of 1,27,39,490 samples have been tested up to July 15 of which 3,26,826 samples were tested yesterday, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.
