Congress President Rahul Gandhi promises minimum income guarantee for poor if voted to power

Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday announced that his party would ensure minimum income guarantee for every poor in the country if it voted to power in the upcoming polls.

“We have now taken a step that no government has taken before. We have decided to give every poor person a Minimum Income Guarantee when we form the govt. This is a historic step taken to eradicate hunger and poverty,” Rahul Gandhi said.

He further said, “We have taken a decision that in the year 2019, the Congress Government at the Centre will guarantee “Minimum Income” to every poor individual in the country:”

“We cannot build a new India while millions of our brothers and sisters suffer the scourge of poverty. If voted to power in 2019, the Congress is committed to a Minimum Income Guarantee for every poor person, to help eradicate poverty and hunger. This is our vision & our promise,” Rahul added.

“Whenever Congress took up the issue of farm loan waiver, the previous BJP govt of Chhattisgarh denied claiming the govt had no money,” Rahul said.

Gandhi also distributed loan waiver certificates to some of the beneficiary farmers during the function ahead of his kisan rally in Chhattisgarh.

The Congress had posted a massive victory in last year’s state Assembly polls.

Ahead of the Assembly polls, Rahul had assured to waive farm loans if his party was voted to power in the state.
