Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday kicked off his party’s election campaign in Telangana and attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao for failing to fulfill the promises made to people.
Speaking at a public meeting at Bhainsa town in Adilabad district, Gandhi told people that five years were wasted as Chief Minister Rao shattered the dreams of the new state.
Congress President said it was only KCR’s family which “cornered” all the benefits. He said only Congress could build a Telangana which is free from corruption.
He also alleged that KCR disrespected B.R. Ambedkar by renaming the name of an irrigation project in the state to Kaleshwaram and increased its construction cost from Rs 38,000 crore to Rs One Lakh crore.
Congress President alleged that KCR had promised to give one job to each family, 3-acre land to SC/ST, 12% reservation to Aadivasis but he failed.
He said, Only Congress party has the ability to fulfill the aspirations of Telangana.
“I have never made a false promise. If you want to listen to lies, listen to CM KCR and Prime Minister Modi speeches. All the economists in the world say Demonetisation is a failed idea, but CM KCR supported Modi in banning notes and making the whole country stand in queues. You trusted CM KCR and chose him in the last elections. Everyone thought their wishes will be fulfilled. But now, people have realized that all he did was corruption,” Congress President said.
“Congress govt will work hard to provide unemployment allowance of Rs 3,000,” he added.
Gandhi promised that if voted to power Congress would implement the legislation brought by the UPA government to protect the lands of farmers and tribals and return the lands which were forcibly acquired by the KCR government.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promised that he does not want to be a Prime Minister but Chowkidar (watchman). However, he has been a chowkidar of rich Indians like Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi, Vijay Mallya and Anil Ambani but not of people,” said Rahul Gandhi
Gandhi also criticized GST and Rafale deal on the occasion.
