CM Yogi Adityanath clears plan for 221-metre statue of Lord Ram

The Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday finalised the details for the construction of a 221-metre-long statue of Lord Ram in Ayodhya.

The decision of constructing a grand statue was taken in a high-level meeting chaired by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The BJP-led government announced that the statue will be 211 meters tall, which is taller than 182 metres Statue of Unity in Gujarat.

According to the reports, the statue would measure 151 meters and would be put on a 50-metre high pedestal and its overhead umbrella would be 20 metres. The combined height of the structure would thus be 221 metres, making it the world’s tallest statue. The statue will be made of bronze, it plans to build on the banks of the Sarayu river.

A representational photograph of the statue was also shared with the media.

The decision came hours ahead of a massive rally planned by Shiv Sena and Vishwa Hindu Parishad, to demand the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya
