New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a youth-driven movement that gained prominence on social media in recent weeks, held its first major on-ground protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Saturday. Led by founder Abhijeet Dipke, the demonstration focused on alleged irregularities in competitive and school examinations and called for greater accountability in the education system.
The protest, which received permission from Delhi Police, began in the morning amid tight security arrangements. Organisers urged participants to carry the national flag, remain peaceful and follow all legal guidelines during the demonstration.
CJP, which started as a satirical online campaign, has rapidly grown into a prominent youth movement with millions of followers across social media platforms. The group has been vocal on issues such as examination controversies, youth unemployment and transparency in public institutions.
Ahead of the protest, Dipke travelled from the United States to India and appealed to supporters to exercise their constitutional right to peaceful protest. The organisation’s primary demand has been accountability for alleged lapses in examinations including NEET, CBSE, CUET and other recruitment tests. Several supporters and student groups joined the demonstration, while public figures and activists also expressed solidarity with the movement.
The protest marks a significant moment for CJP as it attempts to convert its massive online following into real-world mobilisation. Political observers say the turnout and public response could determine whether the movement evolves into a sustained civic campaign or remains largely a digital phenomenon.
Authorities maintained a strong security presence at the venue, while organisers repeatedly emphasised that the demonstration would remain peaceful and focused on educational issues affecting students across the country.
