Chhattisgarh: Eight Maoists killed, two cops martyred in encounter in Sukma

At least eight Maoists were killed and two police personnel were martyred on Monday in an encounter between Maoists and security men in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, police said.

According to the reports, the exchange of fire took place at a forest in Kistaram area, when a team of security personnel was out on an anti-Naxal operation.

The bodies of eight Maoists had been found at the encounter spot, an official said.

Two District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel were also killed in the exchange of fire.

A joint team of DRG (District Reserve Guard), special task force (STF) and CRPF have cordoned off the area.

Further details were awaited as the encounter is under way.
