Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh have been put under house arrest ahead of the party’s call for a massive protest against the Jagan Reddy government.
Besides Naidu and his son, several TDP leaders have been taken into preventive detention.
Naidu-led TDP had planned a protest against the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and said that they will launch ‘Chalo Atmakur’ on September 11 for ‘saving democracy’ in the region.
Naidu accused YSR Congress Party that completed 100 days in power last week over increasing attacks on TDP workers.
With the TDP cadre not being allowed to protest, Naidu has called for a 12-hour hunger strike which began at around 8 am and will continue till 8 pm.
Section 144 was imposed in Narasaraopeta, Sattenapalle, Palnadu and Gurajala regions of the state.
Tension prevails around Chandrababu Naidu’s house as party leaders coming to meet him were being prevented from entering the house.
Chandrababu Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh shared some pictures on his Twitter account from the TDP’s protest and interaction with the police.
Reddy and Naidu have been at the loggerheads ever since the YSRCP came to power in the state in the recently held Assembly elections.
