Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma passed the directive while hearing a petition filed by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, who challenged the government’s previous decision to withhold the account within India.
Appearing on behalf of the Centre, Solicitor-General Tushar Mehta explained that the account had been blocked as a precautionary measure ahead of the June 21 NEET re-test. Mehta argued that certain posts on the platform carried the potential to spark confusion and panic among hundreds of thousands of candidates and parents. However, with the examination concluded, Mehta stated the government has “no difficulty” if the account is unblocked.
“Since NEET is already over, the primary concern is no longer of any relevance,” Justice Sharma noted in the order. “In these circumstances, the order is revoked. The petition is allowed.”
During earlier proceedings, senior advocate Akhil Sibal, representing Dipke, defended the CJP’s content as “pure satire.” Sibal contended that even if the authorities found specific individual posts objectionable, they should have restricted only those specific items rather than implementing a blanket ban on the entire account.
