Centre asks States to ensure smooth movement of Health workers, allow private clinics to open

States must ensure the smooth movement, including inter-state travel of all medical professionals, paramedic staff, sanitation personnel and ambulances during the lockdown, the Health Ministry said on Monday.

The Ministry also told the states that Private clinics and nursing homes be allowed to open without hindrances to facilitate fighting COVID-19 and non-COVID emergencies.

Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla wrote the states a day after Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba chaired a meeting with Chief Secretaries and Health Secretaries of all States and Union territories to review their status of COVID-19 Management through video conference.

Cabinet Secretary emphasised that movements of doctors, nurses and paramedics should be totally unhindered and all steps be taken to facilitate and protect Corona Warriors.

The State Chief Secretaries informed about the situation in their States and also said that while protection is required from COVID-19, the economic activities also need to be stepped up in a calibrated manner.
