Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General N.S. Raja Subramani began his first visit to Jammu and Kashmir since assuming office, reviewing the security situation along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Jammu region.
The CDS visited the Northern Command headquarters in Udhampur and the XVI Corps headquarters in Nagrota before undertaking an aerial and ground review of forward areas in Rajouri and Poonch districts. He was briefed by senior Army commanders on the security scenario, anti-infiltration measures, counter-terrorism operations and preparations for the annual Amarnath Yatra beginning July 3.
General Subramani also reviewed the anti-infiltration grid and was apprised of recent infiltration attempts from across the border. He is scheduled to visit Srinagar on Saturday to assess the security situation in the Kashmir Valley.
Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi visited Leh and reviewed the operational situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh. He also met Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena to discuss civil-military cooperation, including the proposed re-employment of Agniveers in the Union Territory administration.
Separately, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth arrived in Ladakh on a three-day visit. He is expected to review the security situation along the LAC and visit the Siachen Glacier to interact with troops deployed in the high-altitude region.
