CBI’s clean chit for Mulayam Yadav, Akhilesh in disproportionate assets case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday gave clean chit to Samajwadi Party (SP)patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav and his son Akhilesh Yadav in connection with a disproportionate assets case.

CBI in its affidavit informed the Apex Court that the case against the father-son duo was closed in August 2013 as no evidence was found against them.

Mulayam Singh Yadav had earlier said that a petition filed by Congress activist Vishwanath Chaturvedi against him and his family in 2005 proved inconclusive as the CBI and the Income Tax Authorities did not find anything adverse.

Chaturvedi had filed the petition in the top court seeking a direction to the CBI to take appropriate action against Mulayam Singh Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav and his wife Dimple Yadav and younger son Prateek under the Prevention of Corruption Act for allegedly acquiring unknown assets by misuse of power.
