CBI Row: Supreme Court adjourns hearing to November 16

The Supreme court on Monday adjourned the hearing on the CBI row till Friday, November 16, after Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) submitted its inquiry report on CBI Director Alok Verma in a sealed cover.

According to the sources, the CVC report were not filed in time and the top court said they need time to go through the report and then come to a decision.

However, CVC said that it had completed its report on Saturday but could not submit it in time.

The Supreme Court on October 26 had asked CVC to complete inquiry in respect of the allegation made against CBI Director Alok Verma within a period of 2 weeks.

Another report has also been submitted on decisions taken by M Nageswar Rao, the officer who took over as interim chief after Alok Verma was sent on forced leave last month.

The apex Court said, “it will peruse the decisions taken by Rao from October 23, including transfer of investigations and change of investigating officers.”

Earlier, the apex court had barred Rao from taking any policy or major decisions. “He was only allowed to take essential decisions.”
