India’s Sonia Chahal became the second Indian boxer to enter the final of the AIBA Women’s World Championships by beating Jo Son Hwa of North Korea on Friday.
In the 57 kg weight category semi-final, Sonia defeated Jo Son 5:0 with a unanimous verdict from all the judges.
Sonia after winning the semi-final said that she had never imagined that she will reach the final. She is happy to be in the world Championships final.
Mary Kom was the other Indian boxer to enter the final, winning her 48 kg by unanimous decision on Thursday.
Sonia will now face Ornella Gabriele Wahner of Germany in the final on November 24.
However, another Worlds debutant Simranjit Kaur had to settle for bronze medal as she lost her semi-final bout in the 64kg weight category to China’s Dou Dan.
