BJP wins civic body polls in Maharashtra’s Sangli, Jalgaon

The BJP on August 3 wins Sangli and Jalgaon civic body polls in Maharashtra. The BJP won 57 of the 75 seats in Jalgaon and 41 out of 78 seats in Sangli.

The BJP has won a decisive victory with the highest number of seats for a single party in Sangli region dominated by Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) of Sharad Pawar and Jalgaon dominated by ally Shiv Sena.

Chief Minister Devendra Gangadharrao Fadnavis reportedly said, “This shows the faith people have on us. I am thankful to the people of Jalgaon and Sangli who had voted for the BJP. We will continue to work for the welfare of the people of Maharashtra.”

The victory in civic polls is a boost for BJP in 2019 elections.
