Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Dr Virendra Kumar will be the Protem Speaker of the 17th Lok Sabha.
Kumar is the lawmaker from Tikamgarh in Madhya Pradesh. He was the minister of state in the ministry of women and child development and MoS in the minority affairs ministry in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s previous government.
As the interim speaker, Dr Kumar will administer the oath of office to newly elected Lok Sabha members and also preside over the first meeting of the 17th Lok Sabha, in which the Speaker will be elected.
The first session of 17th Lok Sabha will begin on June 17.
