The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is keen to field Malayalam superstar Mohanlal in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Thiruvananthapuram as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, as per sources.
Reports says, RSS is trying to build a ‘social activist’ profile for Mohanlal, in the run-up to the polls.
The latest round of speculation came as Mohanlal on Monday, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to invite him for a function organised by the actor’s community service initiative under VishwaSanthi Foundation in Wayanad.
“It has been a privilege to meet our Honourable Prime Minister Shri. @narendramodi ji on this auspicious day of Janmashtami. Briefed him about @VishwaSanthiFndn and our multifaceted social initiatives,” Mohanlal tweeted.
According to the sources, Mohanlal’s meeting with PM Modi was part of an exercise to build a political and social profile for the actor and not a para-dropped profile
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took to his twitter account to express about his meeting with Mohanlal
“Yesterday, I had a wonderful meeting with @Mohanlal Ji. His humility is endearing. His wide range of social service initiatives are commendable and extremely inspiring,” Modi tweeted.
