Bengal has enough resources to rebuild Vidyasagar statue, don’t need BJP’s money; says Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said Bengal has enough resources to rebuild the iconic Vidyasagar statue that was vandalised during BJP President Amit Shah’s roadshow. She said Bengal does not need money from the BJP.

“Why should we take their (BJP”s) money,” Mamata said.

Addressing a rally in Bengal’s Mathurapur, Mamata said, “The BJP has destroyed the 200-year-old heritage of West Bengal, those supporting the party will not be accepted by the society.”

Mamata said, “she is not scared to speak the truth and ready to go to jail”.

She accused the Election Commission (EC) of being partial and said it was behaving like “BJP’s brother”.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today at a rally in Uttar Pradesh had promised to build the statue at the same spot where his bust was vandalised during the clashes at Amit Shah’s roadshow.
