Srinagar, Sep 03:
BCCI chairman Mithun Manhas hailed India’s title triumph in 2026 Asian Games, describing the team as “by far the best team of the tournament” and praising its ability to handle pressure.

“It’s a big day of happiness and the whole country should celebrate,” Manhas said, dedicating the victory to India’s millions of cricket fans and soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for the country.

Praising India’s batting and bowling performances, he highlighted Tilak Varma and Abhishek Sharma for their contributions. “This is a team sport,” he said. “Openers basically set the tone. The middle order finishes the game.”

Speaking in Kashmir, Manhas also backed the growth of cricket in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, referring to Baramulla’s Aaqib Nabi. “We want cricket to flourish in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh and we want more and more players to emerge,” he said.

“There is a lot of talent here. It only needs to be nurtured and they need to be backed,” Manhas added.
