Assembly sessions were used by AAP to spread anarchy: Delhi BJP Chief

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said that the Assembly session starting today is a day of restoring the true democratic process. He said that for the past 10 years, Assembly sessions were only used to spread arbitrary anarchy by Aam Aadmi Party government.

Addressing the media, Sachdeva said, “The session that has started today, it is in real terms restoration of democracy in Delhi. In the last 10 years, in the guise of Vidhan Sabha, corruption, arbitrariness, and dictatorship were being spread. A good discussion is required. I hope that in the leadership of CM Rekha Gupta, there will be discussion, and development. I urge the Opposition to work with us…”

He said that the first step of democracy is giving proper respect to the opposition in the House, and it is regrettable that for a decade, the voice of the Opposition was suppressed in the Assembly.

The government of Delhi’s BJP Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will remain committed to upholding the dignity of the Assembly and respecting democratic systems.

Earlier in the day, Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta, along with Cabinet ministers, and other members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs), took oath in the House in the presence of Virendra Sachdeva, and pro-tem Speaker Arvinder Singh Lovely.

The 14 pending CAG reports will be tabled tomorrow. Gupta in her first cabinet meeting gave nod to table the CAG reports which was pending since the tenure of the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

A day earlier, the AAP leaders chose former caretaker Chief Minister Atishi is the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Delhi Assembly. This comes after the party was voted out of power in the capital. Atishi, who is among the 22 AAP candidates who won in the February 5 polls, will be the first woman to hold the position of the LoP in the Assembly. The BJP won 48 out of the 70 seats.
