Indian sprinter Manjit Singh on Tuesday won the Gold medal in men’s 800m race, while Jinson Johnson won the silver medal in the same event in the ongoing Asian Games at Jakarta.
Manjit bagged the gold with a timing of 1:45.16 while Jinson clocked 1:46.35 to bag the silver for India. Abubaker Abdalla of Qatar won the bronze with a timing of 1:46.38.
Congratulating Manjit and Jinson for their performance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “We will remember the #AsianGames2018 for the encouraging performance in various track events. India is overjoyed about Manjit Singh winning the Gold in the Men’s 800m Final.”
“Congratulations to Jinson Johnson for bagging the Silver Medal in the Men’s 800m Final. His success is remarkable and inspiring,” PM said in another tweet.
India’s total medal tally at the Asian games 2018 now stands at 50 with nine gold, nineteen silver, and twenty-two bronze.
