New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) will convene a high-level conference of Superintendents of Police (SPs) from border districts across the country on July 9 to review key issues related to border management, illegal infiltration and coordination between the Centre and the states. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to address the Border District SPs Conference-2026 at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in New Delhi.
The conference will bring together SPs from districts located along India’s international borders with Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal, along with senior officials of the Home Ministry. According to official sources, the meeting aims to strengthen the country’s border security framework by assessing challenges in frontier regions and enhancing coordination among security agencies.
A key focus of the discussions will be illegal infiltration, with officials expected to review measures to improve border surveillance, intelligence sharing and mechanisms for identifying individuals residing in India without valid authorisation. The meeting will also deliberate on streamlining the process of deporting foreign nationals staying illegally in the country.
Another major agenda item will be demographic changes in border districts and their implications for internal security. Officials are expected to examine available data, assess emerging trends and discuss ways to strengthen monitoring and enforcement through better coordination between state police forces and central agencies.
The Home Ministry is also expected to emphasise stronger Centre-state cooperation in dealing with border-related security challenges. The outcomes of the conference are likely to shape future policies aimed at improving border policing, tackling cross-border crimes and reinforcing India’s overall border management strategy.
