The high-level review meeting on preparations for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, scheduled to be chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday, has been postponed to June 12 due to his prior engagements.
Official sources said senior Jammu and Kashmir officials have been informed about the revised schedule. The meeting in New Delhi will review security arrangements and civil preparations for the annual pilgrimage, including healthcare, sanitation, accommodation, transportation and emergency response mechanisms.
The meeting is expected to be attended by Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP Nalin Prabhat, Home Secretary Chandraker Bharti and other senior officials from Jammu and Kashmir, besides top officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs, central armed police forces, intelligence agencies and the Army.
The 57-day pilgrimage is scheduled to begin on July 3 and conclude on August 28. Authorities are expecting a large turnout of devotees this year amid a rise in tourist arrivals and strong registration numbers.
Security deployment for the Yatra has already commenced, with the Union Home Ministry sanctioning 670 companies of paramilitary forces for security duties across Jammu and Kashmir. Extensive arrangements are being put in place along the Jammu transit route, at Baltal and Nunwan base camps, and along the pilgrimage tracks to ensure a safe and smooth Yatra.
Officials said all security and logistical measures would be fully operational at least a week before the commencement of the pilgrimage. The June 12 review meeting will assess the overall preparedness of security and civil departments and focus on measures to ensure the successful conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
