Patna: A dramatic moment from the ongoing student protests in Bihar has gone viral on social media after protesters in Patna were seen dancing under police water cannons instead of dispersing.
According to videos circulating online, one of the students jokingly asked police personnel, “Police sir, why aren’t you using water cannons? It’s too hot here.” Another remark heard in the video said, “Aap log badhiya vyavastha nahi kiye hain, sir. Tear gas ka vyavastha nahi hai!” Moments later, police deployed water cannons to disperse the crowd.
Instead of retreating, many students broke into dance on the road, cheering and celebrating as water sprayed over them. The unusual scene quickly spread across social media, with users describing it as one of the most unexpected moments from the protests.
The demonstration was part of the continuing nationwide agitation over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and demands for accountability from the government. Students in Bihar joined protests being held in several states, calling for reforms in the examination system and action against those responsible for the alleged irregularities.
While police used water cannons in an attempt to control the gathering, the students’ cheerful response turned the crowd-control measure into a symbolic moment of defiance. Videos of students dancing under the water jets have since been widely shared across social media platforms.
Authorities have not issued an official statement specifically addressing the viral incident. However, police have continued to maintain security at protest sites as demonstrations over the NEET controversy persist across the country.
