AAP Overseas had issued a press note about dissolving all their units of Overseas Structure. We want to inform you all that this news didn’t come as a shock to us, said the Convenors of majority of US Chapters. We had sent a joint email to Prithvi Reddy on March 26th,2018, regarding passing the resolution that they would work under Punjab leadership and directly with Punjab AAP Unit and not with AAP Overseas.
Prithvi Reddy on receiving the letter, instead of listening to our reasons for such a decision or making an attempt to communicate, responded with an unusual threatening email. It stated that, “any attempts to shortcut this process and establish process will be treated as anti-party activity and suitable action will be necessitated”. Sad part is, all those chapters have worked very hard during Delhi and Punjab elections . Many chapters have raised over $200,000 and some raised over $100,000. People used to stay awake all night to make calls to random numbers in Punjab and Delhi from a database to request to vote for AAP. People have lost their businesses, jobs and ignored their families because they were so busy working for AAP as they wanted to bring a change. At the end they received disappointment. With all coming from a civic society which values integrity and intellect.
NRI volunteers would support those who we see working for betterment of Punjab and have sent clear message to the party about it also by supporting Bathinda Rally and other District level rallies by AAP Punjab Unit and would continue support to them.
Most of chapters feel that like other political parties, AAP has also adopted use and throw policy. NRI’s had no self-benefit when they decided to support AAP, everyone is well settled here and I doubt it if anyone is going back to fight any elections in Punjab, hence they still worked day and night for the party. Unfortunately, no one initiated a dialogue or informed the same very NRI’s about breaking up the overseas structure and none of these NRI chapter heads were taken into confidence. Just like the recently removed Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Twitter, and also dissolved all NRI chapters via Whats App message.
